Our mission: unlock mathematical proficiency for everyone.
numiknow® was created by educators and social entrepreneurs who recognise that many learners, young people and adults can struggle with basic mathematics.
numiknow® is a collection of games which makes mathematical proficiency development fun and enjoyable. Using sets of dominoes which are readily available, numiknow® can be used by people of any age or ability. Because numiknow® sets require no power or screens, numiknow® can be used anywhere at any time.
“Mathematical proficiency development” means helping someone get better at understanding and using mathematics. It includes building the five strands of mathematical proficiency: conceptual understanding (making sense of ideas), procedural fluency (working out answers correctly and efficiently), strategic competence (solving problems), adaptive reasoning (thinking and explaining logically), and productive disposition (feeling positive and confident about doing maths).
How it works
Each game in the numiknow® collection focuses on specific skills such as counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions or problem-solving.
Players are asked to match numbered tiles, count dots and make quick mental calculations.
Some of the games - such as splita 7 - challenge players to practise their mathematical skills without a calculator. numiknow® has a range of different levels which means that preschool children, primary and secondary learners, teens, families and corporate teams can all become players!
